Dear FamOly,

*Feelers alert*

These last two weeks coming back from spring break weighed heavy on us here at OHS. As the Instagram post from our Senior Class this week showed, Mr. Grant was diagnosed with Stage 3 Multiple Myeloma. That hit everyone hard as Mr. Grant has touched literally thousands of lives throughout his career.

However, one thing I want to lead off with right here is that he is so full of grit, determination and and his competitive nature, that I know he will do everything necessary to beat this. We have had a few rough days (weeks) but I think our Senior Class 'prank' reminded us all of what our bottom line is - we are here for each other and will support each other in good times - and in bad.

So! As we head into these last two months of the school year that is steeped in tradition (Seniors? Have you started your countdown yet?), it’s a meaningful time to both give back and reflect on the impact we leave behind.

Seniors? I'm going two reflect on you in the Senior Section below. Your hilarious 'prank' and unwavering support of our principal, will be remembered long after you turn your tassels on June 11th.

To recognize the impacts we leave on each other, we have Principal and Assistant Principal Day on May 1st and then Teacher Appreciation Week the fist week of May which helps us recognize the incredible educators who support, challenge, and inspire our students every day. Every donation/card/anything can be dropped off at either entrance and we sincerely thank you for your help and support!

This year? Our theme is 'Garden of Gratitude'.

If you’re able, please consider signing up to contribute items or time to help make this week special for our certificated staff (teachers, nurses, psychologists, counselors, therapists and so many more that I'm sure I've forgotten to tag someone!).

April may have already had way more tears in it than normal, but I am thankful that Mr. Grant remains positive and while we might have some bad days, we will also have some really good days! He's in good hands and we are optimistic and positive about his health (and we continue to party plan for graduation and summer travel!). We will just take it one day at a time and I'm very thankful for the support that we have in our community.

Class of 2026? You are already leaving your mark!

As I referenced above, spring has lots of traditions in them -- some we eagerly look forward to and some we try to discourage and hope will fade away (looking at you, AP/Senior Assassins!).

The senior prank is a long-standing tradition and a chance for the Class of 2026 to celebrate their time here in a fun, creative, and respectful way.

This year, they really leveled up and crafted a super-secret and well timed prank. They hired a Mariachi Band to follow Mr. Grant around for two hours and then pressed as many t-shirts as they could (in a short timeline) to show their support of their principal.

Check out their instragram for more photos and video. The collage below is just a few highlights.
