REGISTRATION for AP Exams

OPENS on September 8, 2025 and CLOSES on November 7 2025.
Registration closes on March 6, 2026 for Semester 2 only.

COST?

  • $99.00/exam
    • Pay through the OHS pay portal or mail a check (1302 North Street SE, Olympia, WA, 98501) or pay in the ASB Office.
  • Payment is DUE November 7 for full year courses and March 6 for second-semester courses. A $40 fee is added to exams ordered after November 7 and before March 6 for regular testing administration.
  • Cancellation Fee: $50.
    • If you decide after the November 7 ordering deadline not to take an exam that was ordered for you, you will be charged $50 per exam. The $50 fee applies to any unused or canceled exam, including an exam ordered for a student who qualifies for a College Board fee reduction. It’s important to tell your AP coordinator, Mrs. Violette (sviolett@osd.wednet.edu), if you decide not to take an exam.
      [Exceptions: If you ordered an AP Calculus BC exam and wish to cancel and take the Calc AB exam instead (or vice-versa), NO FINES APPLY. This is also true for any AP Art exam.]

You will need the JOIN CODE for your AP class in order to register for the exam. Get this join code from your AP teacher.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Most colleges require a minimum score of 3 in order to earn college credit. (SEE THE END OF THIS DOCUMENT FOR MORE INFORMATION!)

  • The College Board will pay $37 toward the cost of each AP Exam. See Ms. Violette for more information.

  • Having an IEP or 504 Plan does not automatically constitute authorization for accommodations. A student must be approved by the College Board’s “Services for Students with Disabilities Office.” Students who think they qualify for an accommodation need to see the OHS counseling office. The deadline for submitting requests for accommodations is January 16, 2026.

  • Students can freely cancel tests prior to November 14 for year-long AP classes and up to March 14 for second semester classes. After March 13, students will be charged $50.00 for every canceled test or for any test for which a student does not show up.

  • If sickness or an emergency make it impossible for a student to test, a late test can be ordered for that student at no additional cost. Email or see Mrs. Violette for details.

  • The College Board allows students to test late for many reasons, at no additional cost. However, they do charge an additional $40 for unapproved reasons. Email or talk to Mrs. Violette (Room 503) if you need to order a late test.

  • Late testing has been expanded to FIVE days: May 18 – May 22

  • COLLEGE CREDIT

    Thousands of schools worldwide accept AP exam scores of 3 or higher for credit or advanced placement.

    All Washington State schools are required by law (S.B. 5234) to award credit for AP scores of 3 or better (out of a 5-point scale). These credits may be offered in place of a course (e.g., English 101 requirement is fulfilled by an AP English Language score of 3 or better), or these credits may fulfill elective requirements.
